LOS ANGELES — At Plastic Surgery The Meeting, Val Lambros, MD, FACS, spoke with Healio.com/Aesthetics about a study he conducted with colleagues on sleep wrinkles that recently was published in Aesthetic Surgery Journal.

The article details how facial compression during sleep can cause wrinkles to develop over time in certain areas of the face and forehead and become a natural part of a patient’s facial architecture.

The researchers explore the concept of pillows designed to reduce the incidence of sleep wrinkle development by distributing compression to the head and lower neck while avoiding the cheek.
