The First International Keloid Symposium is being held Sept. 8-9 at The Rockefeller University in New York, according to a press release from Sensus Healthcare.
The not-for-profit event is being sponsored by the medical device company, and is expected to bring together industry doctors and scientists to collaborate on better practices in diagnosing, preventing and treating keloid disease, according to the release. Industry experts and clinicians in basic science, dermatology, dermatopathology, plastic surgery, oncology, pediatric and general surgery, ear-nose-throat, maxillofacial specialties, as well as specialist nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and psychologists are expected to attend the event.
“Keloid disease is an underserved market which we have a keen interest in helping to address with our [superficial radiation therapy] devices,” Joe Sardano, CEO of Sensus Healthcare, stated in the release.
The symposium will highlight basic science research, and pros and cons of current and newly emerging treatment approaches, including surgical management, cryotherapy, electrotherapy, chemotherapy and other interventions, according to the release.
