Men with early androgenic alopecia, or patterned hair loss before age 30, could be considered phenotypic equivalents to women with polycystic ovarian syndrome and may have the same health risks, according to study results recently published in JAMA Dermatology.
The researchers conducted a case-control study of 57 men aged 19 to 30 years (mean age, 24.7 years) with androgenic alopecia who presented between Jan. 1, 2014, and March 31, 2015 to a tertiary care government hospital in New Delhi, India. Read more

The FDA and Teva Pharmaceuticals announced that Teva has voluntarily suspended sales, marketing and distribution of the Zecuity patch.

“Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute systemic inflammatory illness causing vasculitis and potentially fatal coronary artery aneurysms in 15% to 25% of untreated children,” Ellen S. Haddock, AB, MBA, of the School of Medicine at University of California, San Diego, and colleagues wrote. “A psoriasis-like eruption develops in a small subset of patients during the acute, subacute, or convalescent phases of the disease. Triple-combination cream comparable to laser in treating solar lentigines
Q-switched ruby laser and triple-combination therapy cream were effective in reducing solar lentigines; however, the laser provided faster and longer-lasting results, according to recently published study results.
Researchers in Zurich, Switzerland, treated 15 patients (14 women; mean age, 61 years) with symmetrically distributed solar lentigines on the back of both hands. Read more
