DermTech announces CAP laboratory accreditation
DermTech announced in a press release that it has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists for its La Jolla, California, clinical laboratory.
The accreditation was based on a recent on-site inspection, and is awarded to faculties that meet “the highest standards of quality in laboratory services,” according to the release. DermTech is a commercial stage molecular dermatology company focusing on non-invasive gene expression tests for skin cancer and inflammatory skin conditions.
“Receiving CAP accreditation and passing our on-site inspection with zero deficiencies is an important recognition of our laboratory’s commitment to the quality of the results we provide to our physicians and patients,” Darryl Garrison, vice president of laboratory operations, stated in the release.
With the internationally recognized CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program recognition, DermTech “joins the prestigious ranks of some of the most prominent clinical laboratories in the world,” according to the release.
The DermTech laboratory had previously received certification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment, the release reported.
