Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation names new president
The Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research foundation has named Steven Tietelbaum, MD, its new president, according to a news release.
The Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF) is the not-for-profit research and education arm of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), which is holding The Aesthetic Meeting April 2-7 in Las Vegas.

Steven Teitelbaum
Tietelbaum is in private practice and is an associate clinical professor of plastic surgery at UCLA School of Medicine, specializing in aesthetic plastic surgery, according to the release. He will serve as president until April 2017.
“Dr. Teitelbaum has a rich background in both research and education, having participated in clinical trials for breast implants, energy devices and injectables,” Neil Reisman, MD, JD, immediate past-president of ASERF, stated in the release. “With such passion for research and education, I’m confident he will advance ASERF’s mission of continued medical research that will shape the aesthetic surgery landscape.”
“It is a distinct privilege to lead the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation to even greater heights as I collaborate with my peers and the experienced ASAPS staff to improve this field of medicine,” Teitelbaum stated in the release. “I expect the ASERF budget to grow as we will increasingly inform aesthetic surgeons about how ASERF research has immeasurably contributed to patient safety and innovation. We will continue to identify and fund the most outstanding and important research in the long tradition of ASERF. I will also support education initiatives that are aligned with plastic surgery trends so that ASAPS members continue to be leaders and innovators in providing aesthetic surgery.”
