VIDEO: Ethnic considerations in features of facial aging

WASHINGTON — In a video perspective from the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting, Andrew F. Alexis, MD, MPH, discusses ethnic considerations in features of facial aging.
Alexis, chairman of the department of dermatology, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West, and director of the Skin of Color Center, New York, highlighted his presentation at the "Aging Gracefully" symposium.
He also discussed late-breaking abstract research, which found that among more than 4,000 participants, there were significant differences in the specific features of facial aging between different racial ethnic groups. Among black individuals, skin aging features including glabellar lines and nasolabial folds occurred at a later age and were of a lower severity than those of white participants in the study.
