VIDEO: Determining risk factors for hair loss in African-American women
WASHINGTON – In a video perspective from the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting, Yolanda M. Lenzy, MD, FAAD, discusses her presentation on central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia in African-American women.
Lenzy, a clinical associate at the University of Connecticut, Farmingham, and medical director of Lenzy Dermatology & Hair Loss Center, Chicopee, Massachusetts, told Healio.com/Dermatology that in a survey of almost 6,000 African-American women in the United States, 47% reported hair loss on the crown or top of scalp.
She said that additional data will be used to determine risk factors for the condition.
