The Melanoma Foundation of New England has announced that its melanoma prevention program will be available nationally through its eLearning site.

The “Your Skin Is In” program, available at www.YourSkinIsIn.org, educates teens and young adults about the dangers of indoor and outdoor tanning, as well as the direct link between UV exposure and melanoma, according to a press release.

The “Your Skin Is In” program has given presentations on melanoma and the risks of tanning at New England colleges and high schools for the past 9 years, and has reached more than half a million students, according to the press release.

“We have been able to evaluate the attitude changes of students who have taken part in the program,” Deb Girard, the Melanoma Foundation of New England’s executive director, stated in the release. “Over time, we hope to see real behavioral changes with this high-risk group, young people.”

The online version has been designed for any school to educate its students and includes a full interactive presentation, scenarios, survivor stories and a quiz, according to the release.
