“The meeting is highlighted by such as sessions as the Iron Surgeon, Family Feud, Shark Tank, as well as interactive hands-on anatomic based cosmetic injectable courses,” Gladstone said. “Dermatologic surgery innovations from less invasive body contouring to practice management pearls will provide the attendees with the knowledge to apply to their practices so they can provide more effective and safer patient care.”

Slightly more than 1,000 dermatologists are registered to attend the annual meeting, which will be held Thursday through Sunday, according to an ASDS spokesperson.

“A high focus has been placed on balance this year,” George J. Hruza, MD, MBA, ASDS president, stated in a premeeting program. “Offerings across all areas of dermatologic surgery from Mohs surgery, reconstructive procedures and new nonsurgical skin cancer treatments to the latest fillers and safe volumizing techniques, laser and energy-based technologies and practice management are evident.”

Special lectures include Thomas A. Mustoe, MD, ASDS annual meeting visiting professor, who will give the opening keynote address Thursday on the latest innovations in wound healing and scar prevention. The third annual Lawrence M. Field, MD, Honorary Lecture will be given Saturday by Marc B. Roscher, MD, who has been recognized as a major contributor in the area of reconstructive skin surgery as well as laser surgery, according to the program.

The scientific sessions are divided between cosmetic, practice management/regulatory and reconstructive/skin cancer/Mohs/general dermatology procedures. Saturday will include three separate oral abstract sessions, which will include aesthetic and reconstructive/skin cancer research.
