Actress, author La La Anthony teams with National Psoriasis Foundation on patient positivity campaign

La La Anthony, an author, fashion designer and TV personality, has teamed with the National Psoriasis Foundation to encourage people with psoriasis to share images of their achievements while living with the disease, according to a press release.

“As an actress, wife, mom and woman living with psoriasis, it’s important to not let my disease stop me from living my life and pursuing my goals,” Anthony said in the release. “That’s why I’m so excited to be working with the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) on Picture Positivity, because living with psoriasis doesn’t mean that we have to miss out on life’s positive moments or give up our ambitions.”

The campaign urges patients with psoriasis to go to the NPF-related website, PicturePositivity.com, to share images of achievements, including everyday activities and life goals. It also asks the public to share messages and images of support, according to the release.

Anthony began experiencing psoriasis symptoms along her scalp and hairline while she was in her 20s. She was concerned that others would believe the condition was contagious or due to poor hygiene, according to the release.

“People living with psoriasis face many challenges, not only having to manage the physical symptoms of their disease, but also deal with the social, emotional and professional implications,” Randy Bernak, president and CEO of the NPF, said in the release. “La La is a great example of a woman who did not let her condition hinder her, and in fact, continues to excel in both her professional and personal life by managing her psoriasis. We hope that her story and this campaign inspires others with psoriasis to reach for their dreams by highlighting the many accomplishments of the NPF community.”

Pop star Cyndi Lauper announced earlier this year that she has teamed with the NPF in a psoriasis awareness campaign.
