Miramar Labs receives FDA clearance for permanent underarm hair reduction of all colors

Miramar Labs announced its miraDry System received clearance from the FDA for the treatment and permanent reduction of unwanted underarm hair of all colors.

The company’s miraWave technology uses precisely controlled microwave energy. The microwave energy does not require a chromophore to be effective and can be used on hair of all colors, including light colored hair and it is also not limited by an individual’s skin color, according to the press release.

“We believe the potential for microwave energy in aesthetics is exceptional. Miramar was the first company to receive clearance for axillary sweat reduction and we are now the only company with FDA clearance for permanent reduction of axillary hair of all colors,” said Michael Kleine, CEO and President of Miramar Labs.

The company also announced the introduction of its miraSmooth treatment which will be available at the beginning of August.
