Weight loss surgery patients: A large market for plastic surgery
According to a press release from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the increase in the number of weight loss surgeries is correlated with an increase in plastic surgeries
These patients are primarily seeking tummy tucks, thigh lifts, breast lifts and upper arm lifts, all of which have grown at the fastest rate in 4 years.
“We think there is a correlation between the two types of procedures and we expect that trend to continue,” said ASPS President Scot Glasberg, MD. “Post-massive weight loss patients are the number one growth area I have seen in my practice and I’m sure that’s the case in many doctor’s offices across the country.”
According to the report, thigh lifts and upper arm lifts had their biggest single-year increase in 5years for 2014: both increased by 9%. Tummy tucks increased by 4% and breast lifts went up 10%.
