ASDS: Body sculpting treatments continue to increase in popularity
According to results from the 2014 American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Survey on Dermatologic Procedures, members performed 16% more body sculpting procedures from 2013.
More than 207,000 body sculpting procedures were performed, which represents a 53% increase since 2012, according to the press release from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS).
The most popular treatment was cryolipolysis at 79,000 procedures, followed by radiofrequency at 49,000, tumescent liposuction at 32,000 and lastly, laserlipolysis at 14,000 for 2014.
“The results patients are seeing from these procedures combined with minimal recovery time make body sculpting an appealing option for more and more patients each year,” ASDS President George J. Hruza, MD, MBA, said in the press release.
From Jan. 2 to Feb. 6, 2015, 826 physicians reported 2014 data by responding to a survey that was sent to 3,980 practicing ASDS members.
In the 2014 ASDS Consumer Survey on Cosmetic Dermatologic Procedures, 89% of respondents said they were bothered by excess weight.
