The Plastic Surgery Foundation has announced it is now accepting applications for its 2015 Breast Reconstruction Awareness Fund.
Through the fund, the foundation will award grants to non-profit organizations that provide charitable surgical care to breast reconstruction patients and increase breast reconstruction awareness and education. This is the third year the Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF) will award funding through its two grant programs, according to a press release.

The PSF is currently accepting applications through Friday, April 10, for two Breast Reconstruction Awareness Fund grant programs:
Breast Reconstruction Surgery Charitable Care Grants
Up to $15,000 to U.S.-based, tax-exempt, public 501(c)(3) charities that provide breast reconstruction surgery charity care.
Breast Reconstruction Surgery Public Awareness Grants
Up to $10,000 to U.S.-based, tax-exempt, public 501(c)(3) charities that seek to increase the awareness of breast reconstruction surgery.
Special consideration will be given to organizations that have previously hosted or plan to host Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day USA events in 2015. Grant announcements will be made by June 1, 2015.
In 2014, 16 philanthropic organizations were awarded funding of more than $200,000 from the charitable care and public awareness grant categories, according to the release.
The Breast Reconstruction Awareness Fund has raised more than $931,000 since its inception and supports research, projects, programs and the charitable surgical care of women in need of post-mastectomy breasts reconstruction.
"Whether it be through financial assistance or through the education of rights and options of breast reconstruction, the PSF is proud to support these deserving charities," Nicholas B. Vedder, MD, PSF president, said in the press release.
