Lumenis has announced the launch of its new ResurFX laser system for fractional, nonablative skin-resurfacing treatments.

The stand-alone desktop system made its debut at the International Master Course on Aging Skin Annual World Congress in Paris, according to a company press release. The ResurFX system builds upon the successful launch of the ResurFX modules for the M22 multi-application platform, the release stated.

ResurFX uses Lumenis’ CoolScan technology, allowing for precise, safe energy delivery along with continuous contact cooling. The system also allows aesthetic professionals to customize nonablative laser treatments from more than 600 shape, size, density and energy delivery combinations, according to the release. ResurFX needs only one pass to be effective and has no disposables.

“We have seen such a dramatic rise in fractional nonablative skin resurfacing because the procedure provides excellent results without the long downtime associated with other cosmetic procedures,” Matteo Tretti Clementoni, MD, of the Instituto Dermatologico Europeo, said in the release.
