Galderma launches Restylane Silk lip enhancement, wrinkle treatment

Galderma has announced the launch of its FDA-approved filler, Restylane Silk, which is indicated for lip enhancement and for the treatment of wrinkles around the mouth in patients 21 years and older.

Restylane Silk is a smooth gel designed to restore natural youthful definition and symmetry to the lip and mouth area, according to a company press release.

In a clinical study of 221 patients, investigators reported 77% of patients treated with Restylane Silk showed improved lip fullness 8 weeks after treatment and 59% of treated patients maintained lip fullness 6 months after treatment, according to the release.

The product is injected into a patient’s lip and/or the area around the mouth in one or two sessions as needed. The most common side effects observed following treatment were swelling, tenderness, bruising, pain and redness; however, the majority of these were mild and decreased in severity within 2 to 7 days after treatment.

Restylane Silk is only available through a licensed practitioner, according to the release.
