Hawaii becomes 10th state to bar minors from indoor tanning
Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie signed into law a bill that prohibits minors under 18 years from indoor tanning, effective immediately.
Hawaii joins Vermont, California, Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, Oregon, Nevada, Texas and Washington with this legislation, according to a press release from the American Academy of Dermatology Association.
“The American Academy of Dermatology Association is proud to have supported this legislation and commends the state of Hawaii for joining the fight against skin cancer, including melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer,” Brett M. Coldiron, MD, FAAD, president of the American Academy of Dermatology Association, said in the release.
