AAD prepares for new officers
DENVER – Brett M. Coldiron, MD, FAAD, will assume leadership of the American Academy of Dermatology when the organization concludes its annual meeting on Tuesday.
Coldiron, a dermatologist in private practice in Cincinnati, will become president of the world’s largest dermatologic society, which represents more than 17,000 physicians, and will hold office for one year, during which time he will hold the same position for the American Academy of Dermatology Association.
Coldiron is a clinical associate professor in the University of Cincinnati dermatology department.
Elise A. Olsen, MD, FAAD, will assume the office of AAD vice president at the end of the meeting. Olsen, a professor of dermatology at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C., is the current chair of the academy’s patient advocacy task force. She will hold the office for one year.
“As many of our members know, new and changing legislation will have both positive and negative effects on the dermatology industry,” Olsen said in a news release. “In order to continue delivering the best patient care throughout these changes, we need to unite as dermatologists and ensure sound collaboration with our patients, other specialty groups and patient advocacy groups.”
