ASDS meeting presentations include facial fillers, skin cancer reconstruction

CHICAGO − More than 1,000 physicians and industry representatives are expected to attend the 2013 American Society for Dermatologic Surgery annual meeting this week to discuss research ranging from dermal fillers to the treatment of skin cancer.

“Every year, the ASDS can be proud of the research presented at its annual meeting,” ASDS president Timothy C. Flynn, MD, told Healio.com. “From trends in skin cancer reconstruction to the use of hyaluronic fillers for mid-face volume to the heterogeneity of crow’s feet line patterns, the research published this year is part of what helps keep the ASDS at the forefront of medically necessary and cosmetic surgery. The young minds of our specialty have made their mark once again.”

Oral abstract presentations will focus on general and cosmetic dermatologic surgery, as well as residents’ abstracts.

Other meeting highlights include an opening keynote lecture by Mike Krzyzewski, head men’s basketball coach at Duke University, who will discuss teamwork and leadership, and a speech by R. Rox Anderson, MD, 2013 recipient of the Annual Leadership in Innovation Lectureship.
