Children’s sunscreens recalled due to microbial contamination

W.S. Badger Co. has announced a voluntary recall of two of its children’s sunscreens because of microbial contamination, according to information distributed by the FDA.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida parapsilosis and Acremonium fungi contamination were found in the products after testing, according to a press release.
The sunscreens are sold online and at retailers in the United States and Canada. Consumers can identify the product by matching the UPC with the lot code located on the tube crimp. The recalled lots are:
- SPF 30 Baby Sunscreen Lotion, 4 oz (UPC: 634084490091 and 634084490114); lot numbers: 3024A, 3057B, 3063A, 3063B, 3132A and 3133A
- SPF 30 Kids Sunscreen Lotion, 4 oz. (UPC: 634084490145 and 634084490169); lot number: 3164A
Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should not use them. They may return them at the point of purchase for a refund or contact Badger at 1-800-603-6100 or recalls@badgerbalm.com.
The FDA has asked health care professionals and patients to report adverse or side effects related to the products to its MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program, by downloading a form or by calling 1-800-332-1088 to request a reporting form.
