The FDA recently granted Cynosure approval to market an over-the-counter device to treat facial wrinkles, according to a company press release.

The Westford, Mass., company, which develops and markets light-based aesthetic treatment systems, will partner with Unilever (Charlotte, N.C.) to launch the device in 2013. It will be used to treat periorbital and perioral wrinkles.

“Our strategic partnership with Unilever blends our expertise in developing market-leading, light-based technology that emphasizes patient safety with clinical results,” Michael Davin, Cynosure president, said in the release.
