DANA POINT, Calif. — In this Healio video exclusive, Keith C. Ferdinand, MD, discusses resistant hypertension, which he said “is the most powerful and potent cardiovascular risk factor in women.”
Ferdinand, the Gerald S. Berenson Endowed Chair in Preventive Cardiology, professor of medicine in the John W. Deming Department of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine and a member of the Healio | Cardiology Today Editorial Board, spoke on the topic at the Cardiometabolic Health Congress (CMHC) Women’s Cardiometabolic Health and Wellness Masterclass.
“We have effective pharmacotherapy, it must be applied appropriately and patients need out-of-the-office monitoring,” Ferdinand said. “We can’t control this condition with a clinician visit two to three times per year.”
