PHILADELPHIA — In this Healio video exclusive, Erin D. Michos, MD, MHS, FACC, FAHA, FASE, FASPC, discussed her presentation on sex-based disparities in diabetes and their impact on atherosclerotic CVD and HF.

At the Heart in Diabetes CME conference, Michos, who is associate professor of medicine and associate director of preventive cardiology at the Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and a member of the Cardiology Today Editorial Board, highlighted how despite there being greater diabetes prevalence among men, women experience greater CV risk.

Michos also put the spotlight on a poster, which was the Oral Abstract Award winner, presented by Salman Zahid, MD, internal medicine resident at Rochester General Hospital, New York, on the topic of CV risk among women with gestational diabetes.
