VIDEO: AHA sessions discuss COVID-19 and CV risks, health equity and more
Biykem Bozkurt, MD, PhD, the Mary and Gordon Cain Chair and Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, spoke with Healio about exciting sessions from the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions.
Bozkurt, who is also director of the Winters Center for Heart Failure Research, discussed one session that “showcased scientific discovery related to COVID-19 and cardiovascular research.”
Additionally, she spoke about another session involving COVID-19 given by industry leaders, who reviewed CV risks associated with COVID-19 infection and the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination.
Bozkurt also discussed the “transformative” presidential speaker sessions given during the meeting, including a “a call to arms for health equity in cardiovascular disease.”
