PHILADELPHIA — In this video exclusive, Mikhail N. Kosiborod, MD, FACC, FAHA, co-chair of the third annual Heart in Diabetes conference, highlights recent breakthroughs in the fields of cardiology, endocrinology and nephrology.

One of the aims of the Heart in Diabetes meeting is to address the “avalanche of data” on the intersection of diabetes and CVD, Kosiborod, professor of medicine at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute and professor of medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, told Healio.

“We’ve had a number of major cardiovascular outcomes trials and major renal outcomes trials that have been published just in the last year since our previous meeting in 2018 that continue to dramatically change how we think about type 2 diabetes ... management and its comorbidities, and I think the landscape has yet again changed dramatically since last year,” Kosiborod said.
