Links between culture, health to be explored at CMHC West

The Cardiometabolic Health Congress is in the final stages of planning for the upcoming CMHC West: Advancing Cardiometabolic Health From East to West taking place in Phoenix from May 3 to 5.
The annual conference will offer an extensive agenda, with sessions spotlighting recent results from various clinical trials and updated health guidelines.
Led by clinical experts and thought leaders in cardiometabolic health, the event will include a wide variety of educational formats including didactic sessions, interactive Q&A lectures, panel discussions and more.
Furthermore, the event's educational opportunities will be enhanced through the integration of the innovative Educational Measures Array technology delivered via iPads to all attendees.
According to the CMHC website, the event will additionally examine the relationship between cultural heritage and health, with a specific focus on aspects of cardiometabolic health unique to indigenous communities.
The conference’s keynote presenter, Spero M. Manson, MD, Distinguished Professor of Public Health and Psychiatry and director of the Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health at the University of Colorado, will lead a lecture on “Health and Diabetes in the Native American Population,” tying together the event’s focus on culture with the conference’s location at the Native American-owned Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass.
On the final day of the event, the CMHC will host the Women’s Health Summit: Navigating Female Cardiometabolic Care. Led by Pamela Morris, MD, co-director of the Women’s Heart Program at the Medical University of South Carolina, the event will examine the unique cardiometabolic challenges faced by women. According to the CMHC, the workshop’s structure was designed upon past attendee feedback and needs.
In addition to various educational opportunities, the event offers a number of complimentary activities and cultural opportunities throughout the conference’s location.
