VIDEO: ESC presentations 'have potential to be practice-changing'
MUNICH — Cardiology Today’s Intervention Chief Medical Editor Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, said in this exclusive video interview that the European Society of Cardiology Congress had several “high-impact” studies that “have potential to be practice-changing.”
Bhatt, executive director of interventional cardiovascular programs at Brigham and Women’s Heart & Vascular Center and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, discussed GLOBAL LEADERS, an examination of a novel antiplatelet strategy after PCI, ASCEND, which compared aspirin and omega-3 fatty acids vs. placebo for CVD prevention in patients with diabetes, and CULPRIT-SHOCK, which assessed two revascularization strategies in patients with STEMI, cardiogenic shock and multivessel disease.
