HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — In this video exclusive, Jihad A. Mustapha, MD, FACC, FSCAI, shares his personal highlights from the International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy (ISET) on peripheral artery disease and critical limb ischemia.

Mustapha discusses the promise of endovascular bypass, new treatment options for tibial vessels, and the need for greater awareness of critical limb ischemia (CLI).

“If your patient has CLI, please do something; don’t just do nothing,” Mustapha, from Advanced Cardiac & Vascular Amputation Centers in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and member of the CLI Global Society, told Cardiology Today’s Intervention.

Mustapha calls attention to the Lutonix BTK trial of a novel drug-coated balloon used below the knee, which recently finished enrollment. According to Mustapha, “the Lutonix BTK data will give us new sights and new hope for CLI patients.”

Mustapha also examines the importance of a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to the management of patients with CLI, nothing that “patient-centric CLI therapy is one of the futuristic approaches for patients.”
