Texas Children’s Hospital ranked No. 1 for pediatric cardiology, heart surgery

Texas Children’s Hospital has been named at the best hospital for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

“This ranking is a culmination of the many years our Heart Center team has dedicated to providing high-quality care to our patients,” Daniel J. Penny, MD, PhD, chief of pediatric cardiology at Texas Children’s Hospital, told Cardiology Today. “By being ranked No. 1 it means we have an even greater role in shaping the field of pediatric cardiology and heart surgery.”

Texas Children’s was also named to Best Children’s Hospitals honor roll, which is awarded to pediatric centers that deliver high-quality care across multiple specialties, and ranked in the top 10 in the cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology neurology, pulmonology and urology categories.

U.S. News & World Report releases the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings annually to help enable sick children and their families to choose the best medical care, according to a press release from the publication.

Rounding out the top five for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery hospitals this year are Boston Children's Hospital, Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

To form the rankings, RTI International, a North Carolina-based research and consulting firm, collected and analyzed data along with the help of more than 100 medical directors and other experts, according to the press release.
