LAS VEGAS — In this video, Ido Weinberg, MD, vascular medicine specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital, discusses results of a subanalysis of the ACT 1 study of patients with carotid artery stenosis.
The analysis compared outcomes in patients assigned carotid artery stenting who had a stent fracture with patients whose stents did not fracture.
In the cohort, there were 51 stent fractures and 47 clinical events, but events occurred at a similar rate between those who had a stent fracture and those who did not, Weinberg said.
“When choosing between [CAS and endarterectomy], you want to know not only about the clinical outcomes but about the technology’s durability and its potential association with outcomes,” he said.
