ACC, Google collaborate on search results for CV conditions

The American College of Cardiology and Google announced an agreement in which searches for CV conditions on Google will prominently display information based on clinical guidelines developed by the ACC.
The ACC, in partnership with Google and clinicians who have contributed to ACC guidelines, created a list of essential questions that patients should ask their doctors, the organization stated in a press release. This information will be displayed in standard search results for medical conditions and in the new “Ask A Doctor” feature that appears within Google Health Knowledge Graphs, according to the release.
Topics covered include MI, CAD, hypertension, high cholesterol and atrial fibrillation, the ACC stated in the release.
“This is a unique opportunity to marry the broad reach and power of Google’s internet search engine with the clinical and scientific expertise of the ACC,” John Rumsfeld, MD, PhD, FACC, chief innovation officer at the ACC, said in the release. “This project makes it easier for the public to get accurate answers to health and medical care questions, and will aid in promoting engagement between patients and their clinicians.”
