VIDEO: Occupational hazards, treatment of aortic diseases top ISET highlights
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — In this video, Barry T. Katzen, MD, discusses some of the highlights presented at the annual International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy, including occupational hazards and treatment of aortic diseases.
Katzen, program director for ISET 2016, said there is a lot of energy and new information being delivered at this year’s meeting.
“A main area of interest we are trying to communicate with our colleagues is the occupational hazards of working in the interventional space,” said Katzen, founder and chief medical executive at Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute; associate dean of clinical affairs at Baptist Health; and professor of radiology and surgery at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Florida International University. Such hazards include radiation exposure, musculoskeletal issues and cataracts. This information is relevant for interventional cardiologists, radiologists, vascular surgeons and others, he said.
Katzen also discusses advances in less-invasive therapies for aortic dissections and aneurysms, drug elution and new technologies for the superficial femoral artery, and more.
