NLA awards honor distinguished clinicians, chapters

CHICAGO — Each year, the National Lipid Association presents to key members and regional chapters of their organization accolades to honor these individual and group achievements. The following awards were announced at the 2015 Scientific Sessions.
Patrick McBride, MD, MPH, FAHA, FACC, received the Distinguished Achievement Award. McBride is professor of medicine and family medicine; preventative cardiology co-director; and associate dean at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is an American Board of Clinical Lipidology Diplomate.
The Honorary Lifetime Membership Award was given to Akira Endo, PhD, who is distinguished professor emeritus at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology.
Harold E. Bays
Two President’s Service Awards were presented. Harold E. Bays, MD, FNLA, and James A. Underberg, MD, MS, FNLA, are the 2015 awardees. Bays is medical director and president at Louisville Metabolic and Atherosclerosis Research Center. Underberg is clinical assistant professor of medicine at NYU School of Medicine/NYU Langone Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and director of Bellevue Hospital Lipid Clinic in New York. Both Bays and Underberg are diplomates.

The Chapter Service Award winners are the Southwest Lipid Association, Pacific Lipid Association, Southeast Lipid Association and Northeast Lipid Association.
