VIDEO: Roxana Mehran, MD, optimistic about future of clinical research in US

SAN DIEGO — In this video, Roxana Mehran, MD, professor of medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and associate medical editor of Cardiology Today's Intervention, discusses the Hildner Lecture by Robert Harrington, MD, FSCAI, at the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Scientific Sessions.

His lecture outlined the current challenges of clinical research in the United States, as well as opportunities for clinicians currently to enhance patient involvement and to improve how clinical trials are performed.

Mehran said that she felt "uplifted" by the lecture. "It gave me such good feelings about how I've dedicated my life to clinical trials," she added. She encouraged SCAI members and fellows to engage themselves, their institutions and their patients in the trial process and the improvement of outcomes among patients with heart disease on a national and global level.
