PTA dilatation catheter launched in US, Europe and Japan
Cordis Corporation has announced the clearance and launch of its Saber PTA dilatation catheter in the United States, Europe and Japan for the treatment of patients with peripheral arterial disease.
The new catheter features a durable dual-layer hydrophilic coating with a low-profile body and new molded tip for enhanced crossability. It is designed for the 0.018-inch over-the-wire platform and is available in several sizes, including balloon diameters of 2 mm to 10 mm and lengths of 20 mm to 300 mm.
According to a press release, the device was developed to complement the Cordis PTA portfolio and is used to dilate stenoses in iliac, femoral, iliofemoral, popliteal, infrapopliteal and renal arteries, as well as to treat obstructive lesions of native or synthetic arteriovenous dialysis fistulae. The catheter also can be used for post-dilatation of balloon-expandable and self-expanding stents in the peripheral anatomy.
