Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas became the first hospital in Dallas to receive the Cycle III Chest Pain Center designation by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

The designation makes the facility one of a handful of facilities around the United States to receive accreditation, the highest awarded by the society, for the treatment of MI. According to a press release, the door-to-balloon time of the facility has continually beaten the national target of 90 minutes.

“North Texans should be comforted to know that the country’s best acute heart attack center can be found right here in Dallas,” John Harper, MD, medical director of the hospital’s congestive HF unit, said in a press release.

Some of the criteria set forth by the Society included the integration of the ED with the local emergency medical systems, the rapid diagnosis and treatment of patients, the effective treatment of patients at low risk for acute coronary syndromes with no assignable cause for their symptoms and the continued outreach to community programs designed to educate the public about the symptoms for MI.
