The Cleveland Foundation has awarded a $750,000 grant to the Cleveland Clinic to establish the Leonard Krieger Chair in preventive cardiology. Stanley Hazen, MD, PhD, head of the section for preventive cardiology and rehabilitation at Cleveland Clinic, will be the first to hold the chair position.

According to Hazen, the grant will help them focus on new therapy for the treatment of atherosclerosis through the development of an inhibitor of a recently discovered guy flora pathway. “I am grateful for the generosity of the Cleveland Foundation,” Hazen said in a press release. “This gift will provide resources to advance our research efforts, by serving as a catalyst for cutting-edge research programs.”
