ANAHEIM, Calif. — Updates in immunodeficiency and immune disorders were a highlight of this year’s American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Annual Scientific Meeting, Douglas H. Jones, MD, FAAAAI, FACAAI, told Healio.

“We are allergists and immunologists,” Jones, cofounder of Global Food Therapy, Food Allergy Support Team and OITConnect, the director at Rocky Mountain Allergy at Tanner Clinic, and a Healio Allergy/Asthma Peer Perspective Board Member, told Healio. “So much of the focus is always on the allergy part, but it seems that at this conference, we are now seeing the emergence of the immunology part of what we do.”

New diagnostics and more targeted therapeutics in the immunology space are essential to move the field forward, Jones added.
