PARK CITY, Utah — Support is available for physicians and families dealing with food allergy, Paul Scribner, MSW, vice president of education and support programs at Food Allergy Research & Education, or FARE, told Healio.
“FARE’s mission is to improve the quality of life of those living with food allergies,” Scribner said during the Association of PAs in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Annual Allergy, Asthma & Immunology CME Conference.
FARE offers dozens of free educational programs for families in addition to continuing education worth 14.5 credits for physicians at foodallergyacademy.org.
“In addition to that, and the main reason we’re at this conference today, is we just launched a new website, foodallergyprevention.org,” Scribner said. “We can stop a food allergy before it starts.”
FARE offers tools designed to help physicians implement guidelines encouraging introduction of peanuts and other allergens into the diets of infants between age 4 and 6 months, in addition to educating families about these guidelines, Scribner said.
“We want to be your resource of choice,” Scribner said. “We want to make sure that we’re there to help you the best we can with providing the best information and resources for those that you’re serving.”
