After attending allergy conferences around the world that “sporadically discuss prevention,” Ruchi Gupta, MD, MPH, decided to organize a meeting specifically focused on the topic.
At the inaugural Global Food Allergy Prevention Summit, leaders from various specialties and regions gathered to share research findings in both workshop and presentational settings.
Topics included pediatrics, genetics, microbiomes, skin protection and environment, with the goal of learning from one another’s perspectives.
“If we can prevent food allergy, stop this rise that we’re seeing and decrease incidence, it would change the world,” Gupta, director of the Center for Food Allergy and Asthma Research, said.
