LOS ANGELES — B. Aviva Preminger, MD, discusses her interest and involvement in seeing female plastic surgeons become more involved in the field and in leadership roles at Plastic Surgery The Meeting.
Preminger, along with Debra J. Johnson, MD, president of the ASPS, were contributing authors on a paper recently published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, detailing potential contributing factors for the lack of involvement in the field and leadership roles from female plastic surgeons, such as a “confidence gap,” gender roles related to family and home duties, and a lack of effective mentors.
