If you've ever wondered if your patients actually understand what you do every day, the following isn't going to reassure you. The telling moment came earlier this year on the hit game show Family Feud, where families compete to see if they can name the most common responses to a question posed in a survey to 100 people.

Last February, one question was: "Name something a doctor might pull out of a person." When the first family rang the buzzer, the answer they guessed was "Gerbils!"

Of course, general hilarity among the host and audience ensued, and "gerbils" was not (big surprise) one of the most common responses from the survey. So what were the real answers?

1.  Appendix

2.  Teeth

3.  Splinter/Sliver

4.  Tonsils

5.  A baby

6.  Tick/Leech/Bug

7.  Stone/Kidney Stone

Now that's more like it!
