Not for Medicinal Purposes
Cocktails are having a revival, with bartenders across the country resurrecting forgotten recipes and devising new ones themselves. In the spirit (get it, spirit?) of this revival, why not try mixing up one of the two following recipes--one old, one relatively new--named for your profession?
The Doctor Cocktail
(from the 1947 Bartenders Guide)

1 1/2 oz Swedish Punsch
3/4 oz Jamaican rum
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp orange juice
Shake well with cracked ice; strain into chilled cocktail glass.

The Good Doctor
(from Saveur, May 2011)

1 1/2 oz Amaro
1 1/2 oz Rye whiskey
6 oz Dr Pepper
orange slice, for garnish
Fill a glass with ice. Combine Amaro and rye, top with Dr Pepper; squeeze orange slice into mixture, and drop the slice into the glass as garnish.
