Video: Fewer finger pricks, streaming data with continuous glucose monitoring
Endocrine Today caught up with Terrance H. Gregg, CEO of Dexcom, at the Healio booth at the American Diabetes Association’s 74th Scientific Sessions to discuss new continuous glucose monitoring technologies in development at Dexcom.
Gregg told us that CGM technologies would empower patients and doctors to constantly monitor glucose levels with trending data and use alarms that alert patients to dangerous glycemic variability. According to Gregg, Dexcom CGM technology, in particular, allows for patients and doctors to retrospectively review data with charts and infographics for better glycemic management.
The G4 Platinum device was presented in a poster at the meeting, and Gregg details that data in this video exclusive. The device greatly reduces the number of daily finger pricks a patient must administer, according to Gregg.
Gregg also said the technology can help non-endocrinology specialists treat a growing diabetes population that may not be able to access care from a trained endocrinology specialist.
