Activity Description

COVID-19 continues to cause significant morbidity and mortality in vulnerable populations. With persistent circulation of COVID-19 in the community, vaccination is an essential tool to limit community infection and progression to severe illness in at-risk individuals. Because immunization is the most effective means of prevention, it is critical that clinicians have robust knowledge regarding the available COVID-19 vaccines, differences among them, recommendations for their use. In this Wheel of Knowledge Challenge! gaming activity, your knowledge will be tested on COVID-19 disease burden and risk factors, available vaccines, and anticipated changes for 2023-2024. Your hosts will also discuss the differences between COVID-19 vaccine technologies, current recommendations, and interprofessional strategies to improve vaccine uptake. 

Target Audience

The intended audience for this activity is infectious disease specialists, pediatricians, pharmacists, family medicine providers, internal medicine providers, and other health care professionals involved in the management of patients with, or at-risk for, viral respiratory infections.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

• Review the burden and associated risk factors for severe disease or persistent symptoms for patients with a COVID-19 infection.
• List recommended procedures for the early and accurate differential diagnosis of COVID-19.
• Compare the latest efficacy and safety data for current and emerging COVID-19 vaccines.
• Summarize interprofessional strategies to improve COVID-19 vaccine uptake, especially in populations with health disparities.

How to Participate in This Activity and Obtain CE Credit

To participate in this activity, you must read the objectives, answer the polling and pretest questions, view the content, and complete the posttest and evaluation. Provide only one (1) correct answer for each question. A satisfactory score is defined as answering 75% of the posttest questions correctly. Upon receipt of the completed materials, if a satisfactory score on the posttest is achieved, Vindico Medical Education will issue an AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ certificate or CPE Statement of Credit.
