Curbside Consults: Advances in Refractive Techniques and Technology

Overview

Provider Statement

This continuing education activity is provided by Vindico Medical Education

Support Statement

This activity is supported by educational grants from Alcon Vision, LLC; Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc.; and STAAR Surgical.

Activity Description

Refractive surgery technologies and techniques continue to advance, expanding options for the personalized management of patients with refractive errors. With these advances, the refractive surgery decision tree continues to evolve, requiring surgeons to have an in-depth knowledge of diagnostic and refractive procedures to individualize treatment to the specific patient and their visual needs. This CE activity utilizes Curbside Consults, a dynamic and interactive case-based platform that will highlight patient evaluation and selection, along with insights for corneal refractive surgery, lens-based procedures, and refractive skills that can improve the patient journey. Experts in the field will also discuss optimizing patient selection and evaluation for refractive surgical procedures, evaluate conventional and emerging refractive surgery technologies, and assess refractive techniques and technologies that can reduce refractive errors and improve patient satisfaction.

Target Audience

The intended audience for this activity is ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients who may benefit from refractive surgery.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Optimize patient selection and evaluation for refractive surgical procedures.
  • Differentiate conventional and emerging refractive surgery technologies in terms of their ability to improve the patient selection and treatment process.
  • Incorporate the use of refractive techniques and technology that can reduce refractive errors and improve patient satisfaction.
