Activity Description
The continued evolution of diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical algorithms for the management of patients with retinal diseases offer the potential for enhancing visual, anatomical, and quality-of-life outcomes in these patients. Recognition, understanding, and application of these evidence-based advances are imperative to enhance treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction. During Part 2 of this 2-part educational activity, updates in geographic atrophy will be discussed, along with advances in imaging and surgery.
Target Audience
The intended audience for this activity is ophthalmologists, ophthalmology residents, retina fellows, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with retinal diseases.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- List diagnostic modalities that may improve the early detection of retinal diseases.
- Summarize advances in imaging that can improve the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of retinal disorders.
- Describe evidence-based medicine, best practices, and treatment algorithms that can improve the medical management of retinal diseases.
- Interpret data from key clinical trials and how they can be applied to practice to improve the treatment of retinal vascular disorders.
- Appraise evidence-based practices, procedures, and technology that can improve the surgical management of retinal disorders.
- Summarize key patient-focused as well as practice management processes and procedures that can improve overall care as well as outcomes of patients with retinal disorders.
