Activity Description
Neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME) affect millions globally, prompting a need for effective treatments. Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapies pose challenges due to frequent clinic visits and injections which impact patient adherence and visual outcomes. Strategies to extend treatment intervals involve the development of new regimens and medications. Real-world data highlight the potential of personalized therapeutic regimens to reduce injection frequency, offering improved fluid control and vision. Ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals should be knowledgeable of the evolving landscape of treatments, individualized plans, and new delivery systems in retinal diseases to reduce treatment burden, improve patient experience, and enhance visual outcomes. In this CE activity, expert faculty review effective and durable therapeutic regimens that improve best-corrected visual acuity and anatomical parameters in patients with nAMD. They also evaluate how to select the most appropriate treatment regimen for patients with DME that facilitates durable vision gains and reduction of macular leakage.
Target Audience
The intended audience for this activity is comprehensive ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with nAMD and DME.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Incorporate the use of effective and durable therapeutic regimens that improve best-corrected visual acuity and anatomical parameters in patients with nAMD.
- Select the most appropriate treatment regimen for patients with DME that offers durable vision gains while reducing macular leakage.
