Activity Description
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is an irreversible, age-related neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a gradual decline in understanding, memory, and ability to perform activities of daily living. With the recent approval of novel AD treatments and the evolving therapeutic landscape, it is imperative for clinicians to stay informed on the current issues surrounding AD. This CE program "Neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s Disease: Implications for Early Detection and Treatment" aims to address this need by focusing on the role of neuroinflammation in AD, the importance of timely screening and diagnosis, and the latest therapeutic options and emerging approaches. Through a series of 3 CE Snips text-based modules, participants will first gain a comprehensive understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying AD, including how neuroinflammation contributes to disease progression. A module will then highlight the significance of early detection and review the tools that facilitate timely diagnosis, ultimately aiding in better patient outcomes. Finally, a module will examine clinical evidence for current and emerging treatments for the management of patients with AD.
Target Audience
The intended audience for this activity includes neurologists, primary care physicians, geriatric specialists, psychiatrists, neurology nurses, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with AD.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Evaluate the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying AD including the role of neuroinflammation in the progression of the disease.
- Examine the importance of early detection of AD and tools that aid in the timely diagnosis.
- Review the clinical evidence for current and emerging treatments for AD.
