The term “semilunar valves” refers to the aortic valve and the pulmonic valve.

Marantic endocarditis (a.k.a. non-bacterial thrombotic endocarditis or NBTE) occurs from deposition of thrombus and fibrinous material on the heart valves, most commonly the mitral valve.
